So my New Moon vow was to work on cleaning out the computer room, and looking at my "stuff" there and deciding whether it stays or goes. Well, so far the computer room is mostly untouched, but the living room (!) has received quite a bit of attention. :) A new form of procrastination, I guess.

Well, that and putting up the new bookshelf. It was a bitch to put together...since after all, it's really meant to be done by two people. But after living alone for so long, I've developed some tricks for that sort of thing. But it looks good, just fits into the space I had for it, and it holds infinitely more than the other one did. YAY! A success!

Have you ever looked at something you haven't seen in a LONG while and wondered what the hell you were thinking? I have before (and most likely will again), but this morning was interesting. I unwrapped a pair of candlesticks and can't imagine what the HELL I was thinking. I think they're plaster, but they're painted a sort of bronze-y patina color. They're somewhere in the baroque French provincial range and I just can't see what I must have seen in them, since they're in my house at all. They will be leaving very soon.

I'm also amassing some books that will need new homes soon. So far, almost a box of them.

Still don't have a couch though. I'd almost decided to wait, when my parents' very generous Yule/Christmas gift arrived. So I thought "what the hell," and went off to re-look at the "set" that I'd liked. Well, this time they said they *might* break up the set, but the price for the couch alone was outrageous, so I said I'd just buy the set. Then I gave them my 20% off coupon. They said it was only good on ONE of the items...or I could get 10% off on both. Frankly, I was getting a bit pissed by the games, so I said I'd buy the set ONLY if they'd give me the 20% off on the whole thing (made sense to me...they WANT to sell it as a set, because the chair would be hard to sell on its own). The manager didn't want to do that, so I said "thank you for your time" and walked out the door. They lost a sale that day over a small (to them) sum of money. Silly people.

So, it looks like I'll be waiting until after the New Year to get a couch. *sigh* Because that's when inventory reduction sales get into full swing. Well, unless something fabulous just happens to come along in the meantime. :)
