OK, so earlier I wrote that I now have DSL. All true...but as of this evening, I also have a secure wireless network set up between my laptop and my desktop. Oy! Yeah, the router I ordered came this afternoon. It wasn't really plug and play, but after only two phone calls and about an hour or so of tinkering and explaining to the IT guys that I'd already DONE this, we got the kinks worked out. So now I'm sitting in bed with Usna on my knee and Freyja trying to climb on my chest, typing on-line without a phone cord. Cool!
:~)
I also figured out a solution to a problem that's been bugging me for a couple of weeks... I'd tried to play one of my audio files and got an error message stating that I needed a Codec 55. So, I went off and found a download site for said codec. Loaded it, but then every time I tried to rip a CD in Media Player, my coputer would shut down. I tried to uninstall the codec, but now I can't FIND it anywhere in the system. I uninstalled Media Player, downloaded a fresh copy and re-installed, same problem. I tried using MediaSource, the program that came with my Zen MP3 player, but I'll randomly have the same problem...it may rip one or two disks and then shut down, or it may just shut down because.
They'll play the tracks just fine. But you can't rip. And, well, I have a 30Gb MP3 player that I'm trying to load.
Gah!
Well, I actually had a little freeware program called CD Express ripper which doesn't seem to be affected by the whole codec thing. I installed it and I can rip as many of my CDs as makes my little heart happy. I haven't figured out how to fix the other part, but I can do an end run around it.
I'm trying to figure out how to weave wire. I'm having a problem with tension. I'll see if I can get the picture of my latest attempt uploaded. And I've now lost my bench knife...which I se for all kinds of weird stuff when I'm playing with wire. It's somewhere in the bedroom. I think the wights are fucking with me.
And then there was snow today. :-) And I wasn't outside in it. So it was all good.
