Frogged the Secret Santa hat. Apparently the pattern is written for pin-heads. Granted, the fabric is thick and springy, granted that wool stretches and blocks, but really, it's supposed to be a slightly slouchy newsboy style hat and it looked like a beanie gone wrong.

I sat down and figured out that there were only 60 stitches max in the crown, reducing to 45 at the brim. So I pulled the whole thing out and figured to add another row of increases to make it what it's supposed to be. Who knew that math had so many real-life applications? ;-)

I just finished round 4 of the revised pattern, and am ready for the final increase, 72 stitches in the crown and 54 around the brim sounds about right. There'll be enough ease there. After all, the girl's got some elaborate hair.
