I have learned a new favorite technique. It can only be used on certain yarns...but on those you can use it on, it's da bomb.

Spit splice. For those times when you want to join two yarns together (like if you break your yarn, or want to join two skeins without a join). You unravel a couple of inches on the end of each yarn, dampen the fibers with spit (you can use water if the spit squicks you out) and then roll the join area between your palms or against your thigh. Give it a couple of good tugs to make sure it's a strong enough join. The damp and friction felt the two ends together into one. So this will only work on fibers that will felt...it won't work on superwash wool.

I frogged the wrap I was making for my aunt. It was a hard choice because I was well into the third skein. But the stitches were small and it was coming out much heavier than would be needed. So I'm re-doing it with a much larger hook. This yarn likes to grab onto itself though, so when I was frogging it I ended up with a couple of breaks. The spit splice worked like a charm. Now I'm using it when my skein runs out.

I'm now starting the fourth skein with the larger hook and I'm liking the look. Warm, but not heavy.
