Yesterday the tourmaline popped out of one of my favorite rings. I've had this ring for 7 or 8 years, and have worn it almost every day for MOST of that time. I fear the stone is gone forever. I've looked through the car, I've checked the street and I've checked the entryway to the house. It's nowhere to be seen.
It popped out somewhere between work and home yesterday, and the setting is such that it can't have been gone long before I noticed it, since the setting has long bits that will catch on just about anything if they're not holding the stone.
I'm sad. I think that I can find a replacement stone, although perhaps not a green tourmaline that's as pretty...although to be perfectly honest 8 years of wear were showing on the stone and it was looking a bit beaten (I'm hard on my rings).
I have a green cat's eye moonstone that's the right size...but it just doesn't look right in the setting. The setting is sculptured calla lilies... I have a burma ruby that's about the right size as well, but it doesn't look right either. I need to think about what stone WOULD look good there. hmmmmm...the stone geek in me is getting a bit...excited.
