This is a piece by a baptist minister on the fallacy of America being a *Christian Nation* founded by Christians which must somehow be *taken back* and redeemed. Surprisingly balanced and written by someone who obviously cares about history.

You Are From Neptune

You are dreamy and mystical, with a natural psychic ability.
You love music, poetry, dance, and (most of all) the open sea.
Your soul is filled with possibilities, and your heart overflows with compassion.
You can be in a room full of friendly people and feel all alone.
If you don't get carried away with one idea, your spiritual nature will see you through anything.

I just don't get it. I'm just not that "dreamy and mystical." And I'm not so sure about natural psychic ability. I tend to be a but skeptical about it. I'm really quite practical and grounded. I do love music, poetry, dance and the sea, I'll give them that. But the picture's pretty. I'm the BLUE planet, with the green eyes. :-)
I'm a sheep! I'm a sheep! or is that shope? What is the singular of sheep? Do I know? Do I care. It's Friday, dammit!

1. Do you trust your instincts?
I try to. I spent so much of my life ignoring my instincts or pretending they were something else, that I had to FIND them again. And I generally find that when I DON'T trust them, I end up regretting it. Of course, trying to explain why I want to do some specific things or not do others is sometimes...difficult.

2. Get up and go or plan, plan, plan?
Yes. It depends on the who, what and where.

3. Do you ask for directions when you are lost or do you keep on going?
I've generally checked the map and know more or less where I'm going. If I do get turned around, I ALWAYS have a map with me. I've been reading maps and navigating on trips since I was quite young (Navy brat). I rarely get so lost that I can't get out of it. If I'm that turned around, I'll ask for directions.

4. Right now: do you know which way is east?
Well, DUH!

5. If a tree falls in the woods, and no one hears it -- did it make a noise?
No One? You mean no one human? In the woods, there's ALWAYS some form of life to observe the happenings...the surrounding trees, the rocks, the underbrush, the squirrels, birds, etc. Someone/thing will hear the tree. But yes, the impact will make sound waves which will bounce off obstacles in their path. :o)
If there is someone on your friends list who you would either like to tie down and have your way with, teasing them mercilessly and making them beg for release, or have them tie YOU down, post this exact same sentence in your journal.

And I'm not telling...it could be ANY of you >:)
OK, so I bought my tickets for next month. I'll be in the Bay area from 12/20 through 12/26. If you have time and we can get together, please let me know. I'd love to see some or all of you when I'm out there.

If not, I'll be back again in February for P-Con.

This trip, I won't be able to come out to Sacramento or to *3 miles west of Cool* but I hope I'll be able to slot a trip to see youse guys when I come in Feb.

love,
me
