Food is not matterxml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /

but the heart of matter,

the flesh and blood of

rock, and water, earth and sun.

Food is not a commodity

which price can capture,

but exacting effort,

carefully sustained,

the life work of countless beings.

With this cooking I enter

the heart of matter,

I enter the intimate activity

which makes dreams materialize.

I like that…”food is not matter, but the HEART of matter…”  The stuff that sustains matter.  The image I see is an endless chain of heart(s) sustaining each living thing.  Things to think about. :-)

Of course Ill be going to work soon, where the very sight and proximity of my boss generally makes me want to stick sharp objects in him.  So its not so easy to SUSTAIN the loveliness of this prayer.  But on the plus side today is Friday, Ill be done with work by xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /11AM and then this afternoon Im thinking of playing with my torch and practicing soldering.  And tomorrow I have a jewelry class.  So good stuff is happening too.

OK, so I’ve been cast as an evil, heartless and (worst of all) incompetent bitch in a public meeting when I wasn’t there to defend myself.  I’ll cop to being evil, and to occasionally being a heartless bitch, but I’m not incompetent.  Not by a long shot…and the driver in question doesn’t even have 1/3 of the story.

*sigh* So the divorce between my firewall and my ISP software meant that I lost all my bookmarks. This is not so good, I feel naked. Many of those bookmarks represented hours of trolling through tangentially-related material over the last 5 years or more...and they ranged over all kinds of topics, since I have, ummmm, eclectic interests. :) I don't know if I can re-assemble them. On the other hand, I HAVE gotten much better at googling than I used to be, so I'm having SOME luck with some of the slightly more obscure sites that I have visited...

The best, though is that I decided that since today had been so cranky-making it was a good day to apply just a bit of shopping therapy. And the object of my desire was...cherry red doc martens. And I found them. And even better, they were on SALE. And with FREE SHIPPING. So, instead of spending about $100 plus shipping, I'm fulfilling my craving for at grand total of $61.90. This time next week, I should have them in my possession. I'm not sure it gets much better than that. OK, instant gratification *might* be better, but it's hard to find womens 11/12 shoes...so I do what I can.

My japanese name is 中村 Nakamura (center of the village) 歩 Ayumi (walk, deeper meaning: walk your own way).

I'm not entirely sure what to make of this. Of course, walking my own way in the center of the village does rather describe my personality, don't you think?

In other news, I'm very pleased with the installation of my Dragon Naturally Speaking program... It's "getting" me better as I work with it. Although it does seem to have trouble understanding me in the early morning. I guess the program's just not a morning person or something. :) And there are the occasional truly whimsical mistakes... I was dictating something where the final part of the sentence was "do not make old bones" and what the machine transcribed was "do not make oboes." I may have to record more of these for posterity.
