Earth our mother, breathe forth life

        all night sleeping

        now awaking

in the east

now see the dawn

Earth our mother, breathe and waken

        leaves are stirring

        all things moving

        new day coming

        life renewing

Eagle soaring, see the morning

        see the new mysterious morning

        something marvelous and sacred

        though it happens every day

Dawn the child of God and Darkness

       Pawnee Prayer

And now, the Con…

I love going to Pantheacon.  For one thing, I get to see (and spend times with) tons o’ people that I rarely get to see anymore since I moved to the wilds of Minneapolis.  And there’re the workshops – which just seem to get better every year.  Snaps to the Programming peoples on that.  Also, they’re weeding out the…well…difficult presenters who make out life in Green Room less than joyous.

I didn’t get to as many workshops as I wanted, in part because I misplaced the program that I’d highlighted and couldn’t remember which thing was happening when.  But I DID make it to the *Divine Horsemen* discussion panel.  It was interesting to hear about DD, trance possession, from several different perspectives.  There was also a discussion on the *Ethics of Trance Possession* which I’d hoped to attend, but while it was going, I was actually pretzeled into the back seat of a Honda Civic.  *Sigh* But I understand from nithogg that Programming is seriously considering doing a track on the trance work next year.  YAY!  And that gave me the idea to do a workshop on *The Invocation Contract:  Setting Sane Boundaries for Trance Possession.* After all, my 15 years of contracts work should be good for SOMETHING – well, that, and the fact that I actually wrote such a contract several years ago!  Giggling the entire time, I might add.  :)  I’m really excited about the possibility.  And several people I’ve spoken with – across several traditions – also think it would be a good thing.  So, I’m going to do it.

I also got a chance to attend two different types of seidh.  Both are derived from the work of Hrafnar, but have developed differing styles and focus.  I think that they’re both VERY interesting, and certainly the barrow-style seidh is far more intimate, since the group is kept intentionally small.

I was unexpectedly asked to stand chair for the first seer n Well & Tree’s seidh.  While I’d attended seidh in the past, I’d never actually taken any part in it.  *Standing chair* for those of you not familiar with seidh (and based on my understanding of what I was doing) means to be a sort of battery and anchor for the seer.  Basically, you stand behind the high seat and hold on to the chair and pass/ground energy as needed.  I stood for nelwyn while she was channeling Odhinn, I might add…and it was fucking awesome!  I didn’t expect the buzz of energy...my arms were jumping with it.

I also received a gift afterwards…which was a bit freaky.  I’d left my stuff (radio and squirrel puppet) on a chair near the door when I came in.  maiandra was warder, and that was HER seat.  She moved the stuff underneath the chair.  Afterwards, when I went to get my stuff, there was a gorgeous little spiral shell under the chair as well.  It hadn’t been there before, and it hadn’t fallen off anything (no holes, and no glue residue).  Apparently it just showed up sometime during the seidh, and it’s mine.  Whoa!  BTW, I think the poem that Miss Dana wrote to take the seer down to the Underworld kicks some serious ass!  It rhymes, but it isn’t doggerel.  And the imagery is wonderful.

I didn’t get nearly enough sleep (as per usual), nor did I get to spend as much time with some of my friends as I would have liked.  I spent some money, but I didn’t go overboard.  It was a really good time.  Plus I got to meet sabrinamaris little brother…in fact, I met him while trying to check in.  The hotel’s computers were down, and a small group of us were sitting and chatting.  Suddenly, I realized just who he was. What a sweetie!  Funny how stuff like that happens.  :)

I’m looking forward to next year…
