OK, I got a new tattoo yesterday. Righ wrist. The companion piece to my rose cuff. This one is oak & holly, woven together. Sometimes I'm just so predictable. ;p
Obviously, there's a certain amount of artistic license, but the oak is somewhere between quercus alba (the dominant white oak species in North America) and quercus robur (the English oak). Kore rejected the robur acorns...she said they were ugly, so we used the alba acorns. There're also two catkins (they're more consistent with the robur catkins). What...leaf, flower, fruit, you say?
The holly is ilex aquifolium, dark green leaves and orangey-red berries. Sadly, the holly flowers would have been just too crazy-making to add to the mix,m and they probably wouldn't have translated so well. But I was hoping... *sigh*
May 2. Considering the shop wasn't open all weekend, or May, I don't think I could have gotten closer to Beltaine. And I didn't even try to engineer that one...it was her first available appointment when I stopped in to make an appointment about a month ago. :D
I'm really happy with how it turned out. I tried to scan the cartoon, so I could at least post THAT. But for some reason, my scanner won't initialize. I'll try again later.
