*10-4* It's SUPPOSED to mean, *I understand* But apparently not.
So yesterday was the first day of school. I worked 12 hours and 21 minutes. Driving, dispatching, answering phones and questions. Giving directions to drivers. I took 10 minutes to eat a VERY late lunch. And this was after working all weekend. Although I only worked 4 hours on Monday, so that was practically a vactaion, I guess.
And then there was the new open mic radio system. Welcome to the 7th circle of hell.
I had a driver to whom I had to give a *special, one time only address* -- 6337 Indiana Ave N. OK, I give it to him. He says *10-4.* I move on to help someone else. He calls back one and a half minutes later, *what was that address?* I give it again...plus directions. *10-4* OK. Moving on. *What's that address again, and how do I get there?* I give it AFAIN, PLUS DIRECTIONS. *10-4*
SEVENTEEN TIMES. SEVENTEEN TIMEs, this guy gets the address and says 10-4. In the meantime, I'm dealing with about 15 lost kids and three phone lines that haven't stopped ringing since 5:30am, and three districts whose phone lines are also tied up. Oh, and three cell phones with no charge, so I can't even use them to TRY to get a call through to anywhere.
Welcome back to school.
I need a nap. A long nap. And a cold drink. And a cabana boy. For maybe a month now.
And this morning...I'm off to do it all again.
Yee Haw!
