Mostly because I suck at counting. No, really, I'll mosey along doing really well for about 8 rounds and then I end up totally lost. I've frogged this stupid hat FOUR times. Finally, I got the stitch pattern figured out AND started marking down my rounds. I think a row counter is in my future.

I finally got past the dreaded 8th round (do I get my token now?) and am, in fact, well along. I'm doing the embellishment band right now...OK, not RIGHT now, because I'm typing. I'll probably finish the thing sometime this evening. Then I get to test my new found knowledge, because I'm making a companion hat. One of my gifts for my parents for Yule are similar hats for their walks on the beach in the winter.

On the plus side, I now have mastered the magic adjustable ring. :) And I wasn't planning on doing more than going to the library today anyway. It's damn chilly out.

My new obsession...er, hobby...is messing with catty brains. Not only is there YARN sometimes in balls, but there are dangling stitch markers and a hook. What to attack first? It's a difficult choice.

I'm just going to say it straight up...Afya Ibomu totally rocks! I borrowed her book Get Your Crochet On! Hip Hats & Cool Caps via ILL and picked it up today. After the usual introductory stuff, she's got a section on adding a bib or bill to any cap and totally breaks it down for you. I took that and added a bib to the hat I was making. Damn! I'm really happy with how it finished up the look.

After I weave in the ends and make the companion hat, I'll post pictures. :)

Oh, and once again, libraries are the total bomb...and Inter Library Loan is sheer genius.

That is all.
