For your good wishes and kind thoughts. Yes, I am OK.
The windshield has been replaced. It turns out the main latch works OK, it's the safety latch that's toast. Doesn't matter, though. I wired the thing to hold it down if the latch gets tired. Luckily I have LOTS of wire hanging about the place, eh? ;) I have to say that getting back on the freeway was one of the harder things I've done. But I did it, and no hood came flying up at me.
And despite my post of a couple of days ago, after getting the windshield replaced, I applied some shopping therapy. I think I would have preferred sex...but didn't have an appropriate candidate handy (or even in mind). So, shopping it was.
I went to Ikea. My ostensible purpose was storage -- bookshelves. I found some that I think I can use, but didn't buy them today, because they're too big for my car. But I DID buy a red sheepskin. Because it's, well, RED. And I miss my sheepskins (which I think may still be up in Canada with the lovely
rhiastarr. I used to sleep on them when it got really cold.
I also bought a stuffed frog because he's wearing a crown...and his mouth zips open so I can hide stuff in there. I don't know, I was having a moment. OK? And a duvet cover and mattress pad. Well, those I needed. Sort of.
But I could have bought SO much more, because it's Ikea. *sigh*
I will go back in a week or so to get the bookshelves. Particularly if I can borrow a van or something.
Now I just need to get hold of the insurance agent so I can work on getting the hood fixed -- he's not responded to my call later yesterday OR today. GRRRR. And I didn't even go online until after 5pm. Apparently when the hood flew up at me, it also broke the cowling (I think that's how it's spelled) on both the driver and passenger sides. Plus one of my brand new wiper blades (I just put them on yesterday...right before I troed to drive home) got bent weirdly. But I've already bent it back.
And my engine sounds odd. But I think that has more to do with the change in the hood configuration than any damage to it. But it might not be a bad idea for them to look at it.
And just because... As a public service announcement for any of my friends who like unusual plush toys...www.trollandtoad.com has some interesting ones. Like Cthulu plushes, and Monty Python plushes (I have to get a Knight Who Says Ni), and Egyptian God plushes. They also have Chimeras and Griffins. And they're starting up a line of the Gods of Asgard. It's a little scary. But funny.
