Last Friday I was going to take myself out to lunch at Victor's for some yummylicious Cuban food. But sadness of sadness, Victor's was closed. So today, since I'd been wanting Cafe con leche, a Cubano Sandwich and some Platanos Maduros (at Victor's they call them Platanos, while I learned them as Maduros), I decided to go and have some lunch. And it was yummy. But I changed the menu slightly...I had the Tamal Preparado -- a Cuban tamale, with ham, pork loin, swiss cheese and pickle on the side -- along with the cafe and the maduros. Oh my. I do love Victor's food. If any of my friends from out of town come to visit, I'm taking you there. :) It's a real treat.
And this morning I walked a mile.
I was a tired little
willowoak today after being up until after 10:30 last night. So after lunch, I came home and had a nap, just under an hour. I set the alarm, but thought I'd messed it up, since I woke up before the alarm went off. And then I fed the cats, and did an afternoon walk. I didn't do either of the dvds I've been doing. I did *the other* two mile tape for the walkblaster ramp -- it came with two 2-mile walks and one 3 mile walk. So I tricked myself. Yesterday I did a two mile walk and today I did a different two mile walk. This one had intervals with lunges and squats. Yeow. I did more shallow ones, since I'm protecting my knees. But I DID do them. Oh, and I did the whole tape. I'd watched it this morning, so I had an idea of the choreography...I messed up in a couple of places, but not too badly.
I am feeling a definite increase in my stamina. I even have energy occasionally.
You see, my natural inclination is to be a sloth. It's going to take much more than three weeks to set this exercising thing as a habit. But since I don't want to be a three-toed sloth, I'm working to motivate myself not just to exercise but to challenge myself to go further and increase my fitness level. Ack!

Oh, and as an added bonus, yesterday I put on a dress that has been fitting quite snugly around the bust/upper back area. Well, it was ever so slightly loose yesterday. And the same thing with another dress today. So I'm actually seeing some slight results as well.
