Ephemeral light--
Colors shimmer 'gainst the clouds
A perfect rainbow.

I've been doing other writing lately -- mostly transcribing projects -- so I haven't made the time I need to write haiku... However, we've had some massive storms here in Mpls for the last few days, which cleared today for a brief space.

I was driving home from dinner down (across) 28th St, which runs east-west, heading east, and suddenly saw one half of an absolutely amazingly beautiful rainbow, perhaps one of the top 5 rainbows I've seen. Each color in the ROYBGV spectrum was clear and distinct and the whole glowed with light and color. It lasted from about Blaisdell to Bloomington (otherwise known as about 4 minutes :-D) before fading back into the clouds. But then, when I turned south on Hiawatha, I saw part of the OTHER half of that rainbow for about 30 seconds before it too faded.

What a fabulous birthday gift from the Gods... Oh, and tomorrow's my 41st birthday. So what omens should I draw from this trancedant moment on the eve of my birthday? How the hell should I know? I'm just a poet with a passion for Heathen Gods --and haiku.
