Last night T & I went out for sushi. I LOVE sushi, and it had been far too long since my last sushi feast. I thought it would be a good idea to go to Origami instead of Fuji-ya, you know, holiday weekend, fewer people downtown, parking, etc. Well, I don't know what it might have been like at Fuji-ya, but we found a parking place right outside Origami...we waltzed in (about 5 minutes after opening) and were seated immediately. It was lovely.
They have some cool specials, including a special maki called 9 1/2 Weeks roll. So of course I had to order it. OMFGs, it was amazing! Shrimp tempura, crab, spicy mayo, kaiware & cucumber on the inside, rice & nori, and then salmon, unagi and avocado on the outside, served with a dollop of spicy may on each piece and drizzled with unagi sauce. Can you say utterly decadent? OK, so I STILL love the spider roll, but this one is definitely a special occasion order. They also have a Yo-yo Maki that I will have to try at some point. :) Dinner was definitely fantabulous.
And you'd think I'd stop being amazed since I'm SUCH a tool geek...but I'm still always surprised at how the right tool can make a job easier. I've finally got it all set up to transfer analog audio cassettes to digital format. And I transferred one of my favorite, rare, completely irreplaceable OP cassettes that's, like, a MILLION years old last night. And it WORKED! WOO HOO!
I always say I'm not a computer geek...but I'm revising my opinion ever so slightly. ;) I'm a computer geek in certain limited specific areas that interest me. For instance, I'm learning all I can about transferring media from analog format to digital format, because (i) I have a number of rare, irreplaceable items in analog format that it is HIGHLY unlikely will ever be transferred and available on digital format and (ii) for some, unexplainable reasion, it interests me deeply. That's also why I started investigating dvd authoring. So while when true CGs get going I look lost and confused, I can understand their passion based upon my interest in certain related fields. And, well, we ALL know I'm a tool geek, eh?
