I have cats. So, naturally, any of my hobbies MUST include things that cats want to play with and/or steal. So there I am, crocheting. I have two skeins of wool sitting next to me. I am concentrating on the pattern, because it's a vintage lace pattern. I look up and one of the skeins is missing.

Odhinn is curled up on my knee watching the working ball of yarn (and trying to eat it every so often) and has been for some time, so I know he didn't steal it. I get up and walk through the house and find it...slightly mangled, but not too bad...on the floor in the dining room.

I think it was Usna since Odhinn was busy and Freyja has no front claws.

I must get better storage organized. :)

Oh, and last night they were ALL trying to eat the elastic off my hook holder. And run off with my hooks.

*sigh*

Of course, even when I'm just reading or working on the computer, they're rubbing up on the book or the monitor. So I guess NO hobby is safe.

I love my cats.
Here are pictures of the hyperbolic dishcloths. If only I'd known back when I first started crocheting (only to give up shortly thereafter) that I could thumb my nose at Euclidean Geometry, I might have stuck with it. :) Or maybe not. But in any event, here they are...

and a secondary view...

The four cloths used about 4 oz of worsted weight cotton yarn...and cost me about the same money as a pack of sponges. Time, of course, is a different matter. But the relaxation of crocheting (meditative fiber arts, anyone?) and the amusement value of the whole hyperbolic ruffle thing negates the "time is money" argument.

Anyway, I'm happy with them.

I haven't finished the lace yet, but have decided to post a couple of pictures. Cause I think this pattern is just rockin'.

When completed, it will be a headband. It's made from the same yarn as my wristwarmers. Lanaloft's 100% wool. Worsted weight, crocheted with a 4.5mm bamboo hook. :) The colorway is Purple Iris. Love this stuff. In the first picture it's atop my hook organizer. Love that thing.

And here's a close up of the pattern. This is actually a fairly straightforward pattern. You work a motif and hook it up to the pattern at each end as you crochet. But it LOOKS much more complex than it really is.
