I just finished row 60, which brings me to one end of the scarf. Now I turn it around and work from the middle out again -- rows 61-117 are a repeat of rows 4-60. At least I don't have to repeat row 2 again for a little while. ;-)

A little more than halfway through. I think I might make another one in alpaca for me after Yule.

Once you get the pattern together, it's actually pretty straightforward. There are a couple of repeat directions that could be clearer, because the sections don't actually have all the stitches, but I was able to figure it out based on where I was in the pattern. Go, me.

I just saw on UPS tracking that my new computer has been delivered. 3 more hours until I get to go home and pet the new system. I probably won't be setting it up until the weekend, but I can gloat. :)

Got home to the new system and WTF? There was NO monitor. I didn't see it on the shipping invoice and I KNOW (because I spent hours debating the purchase -- [livejournal.com profile] ariel_mn can back me up there) that that system was marketed with a monitor. I called tigerdirect.com and asked what the hell was up with that...although I was more polite than that, because really it's not the poor little customer service person's fault. And she told me that I didn't get a system with a monitor.

Nope, that wouldn't fly. I disagreed and said that yes, I did order a system with a monitor, that without no monitor I was willing to send it back and get my money back right now, and that no, I wouldn't pay for a monitor (even with upgraded shipping, etc). Basically, my position was that if you don't help me clear up this monitor thing, then you can give me a return authorization code and I'll ship the puppy back to you tomorrow morning. Plus I will tell all my friends about my experience with tigerdirect.com.

She put me on hold and talked with her manager. Bottom line, I'm getting a monitor gratis -- not the one it was supposed to come with, but a relatively comparable model.

So I'm pissy that my original system purchase was somehow FUBARed, but they did give me fairly decent customer service in resolving the issue. tigerdirect.com gets a B from me.

This:

is wrong on SO many levels. I really can't see myself putting all that work into something I can't eat (or wear). But I'm strangely amused by the concept. I'm particularly enamored of the handroll. :)
